Home Inspection Test Services
RES offers a home inspection test in key areas like radon and water testing to make sure your new home will be safe and healthy for your family and loved ones.
Radon Testing – Odorless and colorless, radon is naturally occurring radioactive gas that is a byproduct of decaying material. These days, it is standard procedure to test for radon, because in higher concentrations it could be dangerous for pets and people.
Water Testing – If a home or new building will not be serviced by city water supplies, the well water will have to be tested for contaminants. Public water systems are tested annually for over 80 known contaminants. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency does not regulate private wells. RES can provided you with testing information that will rate the quality of the drinking water for harmful impurities as well as nuisance impurities like iron and manganese.
Wood Destroying Insects – It is important to check for termites and other insects that feed on wood and destroy homes. Knowing that corrective measures and extermination may be needed before purchase can help avoid added costs of maintaining a new property. Evidence of other pests may also be uncovered by RES inspectors, including: Carpenter ants, powder post beetles and carpenter bees. If such is the case, you will be made aware of our findings and other potential risks and problems with the property in our report.
Well Flow Testing - We offer well flow (or ‘well quantity’) testing to ensure that your well meets state minimum standards for well output. Any well, especially an older well, might not be producing a sufficient amount of water for normal daily use, and the only way to find out for sure is to test it.
CT Standard Potability Test - As a minimum, the state standard potability test should be performed on well water when purchasing a home. This testing ensures that the water meets Connecticut’s state standards for safe drinking water. We collect a sample and deliver it to a state certified laboratory for testing. This test includes coliform bacteria and physical parameters of the water as well as nitrates, nitrites, sodium, iron, manganese, sulfates, chloride, and hardness.
V.O.C. (Volatile Organic Chemicals) Test - Looks for common components of petroleum products and pesticides. This test looks for 61 specific chemical compounds that may put your well water at risk.
Special Testing - is available for lead, fluoride, or any other specific chemical component if needed.
